There's a new campaign around town, and AA now has the whole background story, from a whipping boy we've cultivated over at Reuters. You may have seen the T-shirts, stickers and billboards around town:

Cute, no? But nothing in this town is without controversy. Our inside source tells us that the original campaign was outlined as:
... until it became clear that NO ONE can just BE German, as it's a state of being that is earned only through hundreds of years of concerted effort, superlative language skills, and generally far-above-average intelligence. The correct bloodlines are also essential. The Committee on Truth and Migration added the "von wegen," but the Aussiedler Union, allied with the Tourism & Other Imports Ministry, blocked this addition, as well as the finger the Committee added to the left of this additional slogan.
